February 2012 LCC Competition

A note from Stacy Carlson before we get into the competition info…

At the end of May, I will be stepping down as the Lincoln Camera Club Competition Representative.   This fall, both of my children will be in school (kindergarten and 5th grade) and our after school schedule will be increasing by leaps and bounds with 4H, Boy Scouts, band practice, and who knows what else!  Because of this and because we are a one car family, I need to leave my schedule as open as possible for the children’s needs.  I have enjoyed working with everyone during the last 2 years and am so incredibly impressed with the talent that I have seen from this club.  Thank you all for blessing me with this opportunity.  Though I will be stepping down from my LCC duties, I will still be a very active member of the club.  If you are interested in taking over of the competitions, please let Jim Budka know as soon as possible!

Please join us on February 2, 2012 for the club’s competition judging meeting.  At 7:00 pm, we will begin the judging for the February competition.

The Lincoln Camera Club competitions meetings are held at Eastridge Presbyterian Church at 1135 Eastridge Drive, Lincoln, NE in the Huxtable Lounge.

Each month we have different categories that members can participate in and you can view the competition calendar here.  You can find the tutorial on how to upload your images here.

We have a judging meeting on the first Thursday of each month where that month’s images are viewed by 3 LCC judges, scored and giving a critique.  This is a wonderful opportunity to have your photography viewed by others and hear what they thought was outstanding and if anything could be improved upon.

For this competition, we will be judging images in the following categories.  You can find the Submit Image Page here.  Just click on the category you want to submit your images to.
  • Electronic Imaging Division (February 2012)
  • Photo Travel Projected Images (February 2012) + Make Up images ** Because we are judging the next competition, we will be submitting double the number of images this month.  Each person can submit 2 images and the top 12 will be submitted.
  • PhotoJournalism Projected Images (February 2012)
  • Themed (February 2012)

The deadline for submitting your pictures is February 1, 2012.

The theme for month is Lines so don’t forget to submit those photos as well!  To read more about our competitions, please visit the Competition Center.

N&DPS 2012 February Activities by Peter Yeo

Hello Lincoln Camera Club.  It is hard to believe that we are now right at the end of the first month of the year ……. I really don’t know where the time goes to, but it’s gone in a flash!  February is a “winter month” but it already looks as if it may be mild because today I saw snowdrops beside the road as I came back from a “public meeting” in Newark (I live twenty miles away in a tiny Lincolnshire village).  The Gilstrap Centre, in the grounds of Newark Castle, is in danger of being sold and we may have to find another place to have our annual exhibition.  The photographic society is not the only group to be affected, and the towns-people turned-out in force to question the proposal to sell the building, much to the surprise of the officials who called the “public consultation” I am sure.
