On Saturday the 21st of may from 6-10PM The SUVCW (Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War) and the members of the Civil War Round Table of Nebraska met at Mark Nicholas home West of Hickman. After a potluck dinner and many stories about local events and events of the Civil War a three-inch cannon called “Dorothy” was brought out to be fired. Gary Pettit is the owner of “Dorothy”, with the help of three other re-enactors, he set up and gave a talk on how the cannon was used and the sequence they go through to fire it.
Dennis Gaibler and member Jim Atkins were present to photograph and record the event. Dennis has the best shots by far. To see more of this event go to the LCC Flickr page .
