Eagle Photography at LeClaire, Iowa
January 29, 2011 – January 30, 2011
LeClaire, Iowa: Eagles soaring in the sky and diving for fish in the Mighty Mississippi River. Our Lock & Dam 14 is the perfect location to take amazing Eagle photography.
Located just off I-80; LeClaire, Iowa is the first exit when you enter the state of Iowa, from Illinois. In fact, if you’re looking for the perfect location for lodging, dining and eagle watching, then you should come to LeClaire. We offer wonderful award-winning hotels and restaurants as well as a charming new River Loft located right on Cody Road. Three of LeClaire’s hotels, with special rates for eagle watchers, are located only 1.2 miles to Lock & Dam 14. I have already spotted several bald eagles in the area just this last week.
The Mississippi Valley Welcome Center in LeClaire, Iowa – hosts a Bald Eagle Watch on January 29-30, 2011. Special events are planned by the staff at the Welcome Center. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers park rangers will present slide programs and set up spotting scopes for viewing. The event is free to the public.
Besides terrific hotels and several dining choices, LeClaire is the birthplace of Buffalo Bill Cody and we have the Buffalo Bill Museum. LeClaire is the home of the popular TV show “American Pickers” and was selected as the location for the new Mississippi Valley Distilling Company, which opens later this month.
