Frances and I have just returned from a five day trip to Poland and during our absence our Society participated in the N&EMPF Inter-club Print Championships. LCC members may recall that we gained one of the two places up-for-grabs last year to represent the Federation in the PAGB Inter-club Print Championships, along with Rolls-Royce PS. RBCC had gained a place on merit for having finished in the Top-8 the previous year. On Friday 13th May 2011 the local competition took place and was a very much closer affair than in 2010, with three Clubs tying at the top of the score sheet and having to have a “play-off” to decide the top two places. You can imagine our delight in reading an e-mail from our President, Rose King, telling members that we had again won one of the two places for the PAGB Inter-club Championships to be held at Connahs Quay on October 22nd. Having been there last year we are well aware just how high the standard of work will be. However, to get to a national Finals two years in a row is quite an achievement and our members have good reason to feel pleased.
The pictures on the LCC Flickr page show some views of our Annual Exhibition, currently on display in the Gilstrap Centre, located in the grounds of Newark Castle. I understand that it has been well attended so far, and the comments in the Visitors Book show that members of the public are as impressed as we felt sure that they would be. As mentioned previously, there are about 250 prints on display, with a further 170 digital images showing in a “continuous-loop” presentation on a 19-inch TV-screen. The exhibition will be on display until 19th June.
